Welcome to Our Blog
The long winter is over and spring is here (at least
according to the calendar).
Of course one just needs to peek in our barn and see
the goats are celebrating spring with…babies!
There are singles, twins and triplets in shades of
black, brown, white and tan.
I just love cuddling a baby goat.
They’re so soft and friendly.
The does are so productive and the babies are so healthy
from all that goat milk that we have too many babies.
We have over 40 little does and expect more soon.
It’s very hard to decide who should stay to join our
milking herd and who should be sold to other farms.
We now sell all our milk at the farm store and have a wide
variety of cheeses available.
The store has been open for about a year and a half
and we are continually adding new healthy products and have
a selection of items from other local farmers, bakers and
artesians.
We work extremely hard to keep our prices low but, as I’m
sure you’re well aware, from grain to gas the price of
everything keeps going up.
We’re being forced to improve our marketing skills
and are trying to be wise in what changes we should make.
I suppose it’s not just about the goat dairy, a
business.
Farming runs much deeper.
It’s about our home, our relationship with others,
our lives. It’s
who we are. We
are farmers.
